METAVERSE 101

Here’s what I’ve discovered while working on and among POCs for the metaverse: As of December 2021, nearly everyone I come into contact with, regardless of age or station in life, has heard of “the metaverse”. Very few of them can describe what the metaverse is or will be. Almost all of them have extremely strong opinions about what it means for the future of humanity.

There is a need for a much more in-depth conversation about the potentiality of the metaverse and all it can represent (keep an eye out for our upcoming ebook laying out exactly what it will and will not be), but for the moment, allow me to paint you a picture. Nearly everyone has either planned a wedding or has been part of a wedding party. Let’s take one step of that process and perform it in the metaverse.

Try Me On - I’m Very “You”

First things first: Do we all understand what apps are?  Derived from computer applications, apps are available for download to your smart phone, your tablet, your computer, your smart TV, your gaming console, etc.  Many of us have, say, the HBO app on our TV, and can pick up where we left off from our phone or tablet.  The engines required to run these are part of the mini-computer we all carry around by way of smart phones.

You’ve been asked by a friend to be a groomsman at his upcoming wedding.   You live on the opposite coast, maybe another groomsman is across the pond, and everyone is busy. What follows could be a nightmare of copied and pasted links to suits, varying degrees of success in fit, and photos that are intended for the ages. There’s a better way.

Stay tuned for What’s Next.  In our upcoming blog, we’re going to show you exactly how this potentially pitfall-ridden event will be recast in the metaverse as an engaging and seamless process.
